Submit music history or theory question
Everyone likes to whistle a tune, but understanding the fundamentals behind the construction of a piece of music (whether the melody you’re whistling is a theme from a famous classical string quartet or a hit pop song by the Beatles) is quite a different matter.
With eclectic musical experience that includes singing in chuch choirs as a child, a decade on the road with rock band Stackridge in the early ’70s (including performances at the nascent Reading and Glastonbury Festivals and an album produced by George Martin - the fifth Beatle), eight years leading The Pump Room Trio playing daily in the world famous Pump Room in Bath, leading the Bath Georgian Festival Orchestra and performing regularly in a “Hot Club” Jazz trio and a traditional ceildih band, it’s true to say that music of all styles and types is my passion. I’m well-placed to help you with any queries about music history or music theory that you might have.
So ask away! I’m always happy to hear from people who visit my site and will do my best to address your question as soon as possible. I do hope that you will understand that I can’t promise to routinely answer or acknowledge every individual question. However, I do undertake to read all the questions I receive carefully. I will then select the best, most interesting or most common to address on the site. Please write as much as you like. Make sure you include sufficient detail to enable me to fully grasp the problem.
